4 Last Minute Summer Getaways

Looking for a fun way to spend your weekend before the kids go back to school? Look no further because Ohio has plenty of weekend fun for families, couples or anyone just “livin’ for the weekend.” Here’s my 4 easy and last minute summer getaways in Ohio:

1) Ohio State Parks

Whether you want to go to Wolf Run or Beaver Creek, Ohio State Parks are the perfect destination for your last minute family getaway. Rent a camper or rough it the traditional way with a tent. Families big or small can enjoy nature’s beautiful foliage before the weather gets too cold. Play games, take a hike and don’t forget to bring your own tire swing!

2) Local Waterparks

Big chains are great but nothing beats relaxing on a lazy river on the calm soothing waters of a local waterpark. Go to The Beach Waterpark in Cincinnati, Monsoon Lagoon in Port Clinton, or Pioneer Waterland & Dry Fun Park in Chardon to cool off this August. With some great hotel optionsnearby, you can make a weekend out of it.

3) Ohio Wineries

For the oenophile in all of us, Ohio has some of the most beautiful wineries in the area. From the rolling vineyards to the sparkling lakes, wineries including Chateau Tebeau in Helena, Valley Vineyards in Morrow and Stone Crest Vineyard in Frazeysburg have tours, events and tastings featuring their finest red and white wines.

4) Weekend Festivals

There are some great weekend festivals throughout Ohio! Visit the 25th Annual Midwest Regional Black Family Reunion in Cincinnati, the Dayton African American Cultural FestivalColumbus GospelFest 2013, and the Cleveland Classic to experience the best cultural experiences in Ohio.
