Baby, It’s Cold Outside
Winter… it is just too darn cold. Why would I want to throw on three layers of clothes just to venture through 10 feet of snow to go to some place that has the heat cranked up so high that I sweat through everything I just put on? I would rather snuggle up on my couch, turn on the television and wait out the winter blues underneath my electric blanket. In 2012, I plan to break that habit. No more hibernating through the winter.
I’ve found some events around Cleveland that make me forget about the winter blahs. Like heading to Quick and Loans Arena to watch the Cavaliers play, for example. While the game is the main attraction, there are so many sideshows happening around the arena with giveaways, games, activities, great restaurants and more that entertain the whole family.
I also may head over to the Cleveland Improv to watch the best comedians in the business cure my seasonal affective disorder (I really have it!) with some laughs. I always like to go see Cleveland native, Cortney Gee perform. He’s appeared on Def Comedy Jam and BET’s Comicview and always has the place packed. If you miss him, don’t worry…there’s always someone there to bring a smile to your frozen face.
R&B music always warms me up and on Playhouse Square, I can count on some hot talent performing on stage. This month is no different, with KEM and After 7 on stage at the State Theater, January 14. My girlfriends and I are on our way!
I’m really looking forward to the Greater Cleveland Aquarium opening January 21. I know just viewing the exotic marine life will inspire me to look forward to the warmer months and help me to endure the winter chill.
This year, I refuse to let those snowflakes overpower me (they’re just snowflakes after all) and face the cold front head on with enthusiasm. I could use a little encouragement, though. Let me know what gets you out and about this winter.
