About Monroe Arts Center & CVB
Cultivating Unity Through Creative Expression – the Monroe Arts Center is also the Monroe Tourism Center. Open Tues. and Friday 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. It also features the work of 25-plus local artisans in the Creative Expressions Gift Shop. The Arts Center also hosts a variety of art exhibits, musical programs and educational workshops throughout the year. Run by the Monroe Arts Council (est. 1975), the Monroe Arts Center is located in downtown Woodsfield, in the heart of Monroe County in Appalachian Ohio. Since its opening in 2014, the Center has hosted a variety of art, photography, student art and musical art exhibits and activities. The Monroe Arts Council continues to promote and develop the talents and heritage of local residents. The Arts Council is a driving force in community projects that preserve our Appalachian Ohio history, heritage, and culture and create interest and appreciation among students and local residents. In 2016, the historic Monroe Theatre was donated to the Monroe Arts Council. With a mission to renovate the theater in a respectfully historical way, it is the council’s intent to create a performing arts venue and show vintage movie classics.
