COLUMBUS, Ohio – With travel season quickly approaching, TourismOhio has introduced a new travel app, travel guide and calendar of events to inspire travel ideas and help visitors plan their next getaway. The free “Official Ohio Travel Guide app by TourismOhio” is available from the Apple App or Google Play Store for any mobile device.

App content including engaging feature articles and artistic photography are drawn from the 2015 Ohio Travel Guide and Spring/Summer Ohio Calendar of Events. Bonus video and additional images are included on the app to provide even more visual excitement to share the Ohio experience, all at the swipe or touch of a screen.

“The new app serves an important role in our marketing efforts – it puts Ohio in the consideration set where an increasing number of potential travelers are looking for travel inspiration,” said Mary Cusick, director of TourismOhio.

According to the January issue of “The State of the American Traveler” by Destination Analysts, 70 percent of millennials use their mobile phones to plan their leisure travel. The same report states that “travel planners who use mobile devices take 28 percent more leisure trips.”

“We gave the 2015 Ohio Travel Guide a more modern, magazine-style look with feature stories by industry insiders and images that show Ohio from a captivating perspective,” Cusick said. “We also reorganized the Ohio Calendar of Events, including a new index by category allowing readers to search by interest, so we’re excited to hear what people think of the changes.”

The 2015 Ohio Travel Guide contains:

  • 14 magazine-style feature stories and five regional sections with compelling images
  • Event highlights section
  • Pull-out state map featuring locations for attractions
  • More than 3,600 listings for attractions, lodging facilities, restaurants and more

The 2015 Spring/Summer Ohio Calendar of Events is organized by primarily by region, then event date. The calendar includes:

  • More than 800 festivals, shows, concerts and other activities from early spring through August
  • Index of events by category (Arts & Cultural; Crafts, Antiques & Shopping; etc.)
