COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Office of TourismOhio, in partnership with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR), today launched “Autumn Adventures,” a web portal accessible from DiscoverOhio.com. Autumn Adventures provides visitors with getaway planning information including: fall festivals & events, farm markets, wineries/vineyards, sample itineraries and a “build-your-own” itinerary builder, weekly fall color updates and more. Travelers also can view the new Fall/Winter Ohio Calendar of Events (featuring more than 700 festivals and events) online, from the free Ohio Travel Guide iPad app or order a free print version.

“Ohio is a feast for the senses in fall with the brilliant foliage color, the taste of fresh, crisp apples, the smell of grapes on the vine and the sight of jack-o’- lanterns glowing in the night,” said Mary Cusick, director of TourismOhio. “Our Autumn Adventures site makes it easy to begin planning a vacation, long weekend or a day-long outing.”

Don’t miss the link from DiscoverOhio.com to Ohio’s Department of Natural Resources website where visitors can find more in-depth information on all of Ohio’s State Parks, natural areas, forests and waterways, upcoming park events, unique overnight accommodations, scenic driving routes and plenty more great outdoor information.

Fall Color Report

As the leaves begin to turn, the Fall Color Report will be updated weekly by forestry experts with information on when and where to find the most brilliant fall colors in Ohio. Generally, leaves change color earliest in northern Ohio and progress to the southern portions of the state later in October.

Farm Markets and Wineries

Chart a course for locating farm-fresh, organic and heirloom produce and just the right wine to complement your purchases. Check out the markets and pick-your-own farms for perfect carving pumpkins, apples and gourds, not to mention delicious Amish cheeses, fresh-baked pies, pastries, jams and more.

Three-Day Getaways & Itineraries

Themed weekend getaways are divided into five regions to help travelers jump-start their travel planning. Choose from themes including the Great Outdoors, Ghost Hunting in Ohio, a Lighthouse Hunt and more. Then, create your own itinerary to share with friends and family.

Fall Festivals and Events

Ohio is alive with fall festivals that celebrate the spirit of autumn and the harvest season. Visit this section for a sampling of festivals and events throughout the state that include pumpkin and apple butter festivals, larger-than-life corn mazes, harvest fairs and much more. Additional events can be found by searching the interactive calendar on DiscoverOhio.com.

Choose Your Getaway
Visitors can pick and choose when and where they want to begin their Ohio getaway. Divided into categories by interest, including: Cities, Culture and Cuisine; Family Fun; Ohio History and Heritage; and Sports and Recreation, the Choose Your Getaway option gives visitors a wide range of opportunities to enjoy the fall season.

Fall Geocache

Through Autumn Adventures, travelers can see all the sights Ohio has to offer as they try their hands at finding a geocache with the aid of a GPS system. Half the fun is getting sidetracked while hiking Ohio’s scenic trails, snapping pictures of the trees’ blazing red, orange and yellow leaves, or tasting some of Ohio’s delectable, locally grown foods.
