More than a Game: It’s Tribe Time in Cleveland

Cleveland has a rich sports history. The Cavaliers just ended the city’s recent drought in championships, but Cleveland’s strong loyalty to its teams never waivered – even in the tougher years. No matter if it’s the Browns, Cavaliers or Indians, the game itself is only a fraction of the fun experiences that await in downtown Cleveland!

Start the night off in Cleveland at Johnny’s Little Bar for some mind blowing burgers. At first blush, you think the door under the green ‘614’ awning is the gateway to a “dive bar” – and you may be right – but, it’s the Triple Lindy of dives. Two floors, often packed with people grabbing a bite and a brew before the game, provide a good atmosphere to get the night started. The key to their locally famous burgers is making them from the extras of the fine steak cuts at Johnny’s Steakhouse. You can find the perfect beer to partner with your burger on Johnny’s long, but not overwhelming list.

Little Bar serves them late night, so if you don’t make it before the game, head there after! It’s a 10-15 minute walk from Little Bar to Progressive Field, but there’s a number of bars in the area for a weary traveler to find some respite. If you get lost as often as I do, just follow the droves in blue and red. My favorite spot in the area around the arenas is the Clevelander. The patio there is my go-to spot! Win, lose, or even if it’s rained out, hit a few of these locations and you’ll guarantee yourself a fun night in Tribe town. The best part about this gameplan is it works just as well for the Cavs… We saw the Knicks play in the Q earlier this year. …Or for special events like the USMNT vs. Belgium at First Energy Park.

Can’t make it to the game? There are some great spots around town to cheer on the tribe!
