Ohio Breweries Lead Way for State's Fast-Growing Craft Brew Scene

One of the fastest-growing craft-brew scenes around, the number of breweries in Ohio has quadrupled to over 200 in the past four years — making us the fifth largest producer of craft beer in the nation.

Between brew tours, specialty bars, and brewing companies, there’s a brewery experience for everyone!

Looking for breweries in Columbus and Central Ohio? Help bottle a new batch and listen to live music at the Grove City Brewing Company or conquer the Columbus Ale Trail and visit 41 of the region’s finest breweries for a chance to win a variety of prizes! Popular spots like BrewDog, North High, Land-Grant and Wolf’s Ridge all make the list.

If you’re traveling to either of the other “Big Cs”, there’s plenty to sample there as well. Breweries in Cincinnati include popular spots like Rhinegeist Brewery — recently ranked one of the top 50 craft brew producers in the U.S. — MadTree Brewing and Fifty West Brewery.

In Cleveland, Breweries like Ohio craft beer granddaddy Great Lake Brewing Company, are a must-try, as well as spots like Platform Brewing Co., Noble Beast Brewing and Masthead Brewing.

There are plenty of options outside the big cities, too.  Be sure to visit places like Southside Brewing Company in Cambridge or put your Ohio pride on display at the Eighteen-O-Three Taproom in Dover, where only Ohio-made craft beers and wines are sold.

You can even go back in time to the 1880s with Carillon Brewing Company in Dayton, where staff dressed in period costume reproduce historic beers using historical methods including copper kettles, wooden barrels, and charcoal fires to make each batch of brew.

Spend time making memories at one of Ohio’s many breweries and support the state’s almost 3 billion-dollar craft beer industry.
