It’s that time of year and you still have a few weeks to take advantage of some of the fall and Halloween-themed fun activities in Ohio.
Remember picking apples at the orchards as a kid? Well, you can still do that at Hillcrest Orchards in Amherst. The apples taste delicious and are well worth the effort. Although the apples are the principle product at the farm, other typical fall activities take place at Hillcrest. Pumpkins, hay rides and a corn maze, this year in the design of a train, make Hillcrest Orchards a fun place to spend the day with the family.
While picking your own apples and pumpkins or attempting to navigate a corn maze are popular fall activities, pumpkin carving, zoo events, haunted houses and Halloween campouts also fill the fall calendar. Be sure to check on dates and times before you head to your favorite spot.
State Park Halloween – There’s still time to attend one of these popular events at your favorite Ohio State Park. Events vary at the different parks, but may include camp outs, hay rides, pumpkin carving, trick or treat and even scary movies. Check the calendar to see what is happening at your favorite state park.
Corn Mazes – Navigating the tunnels of cornstalks, some of them stocked with spooky characters to frighten even the best mazer, thrills young and old alike. As long as there is a cornfield nearby, there is likely to be a corn maze.
Haunted Houses and Scary Places– Communities, schools, businesses, fraternities and nonprofits operate these scary fright events. Some of these events have become traditions like the Lake Eerie FearFest or Halloweekends at Cedar Point. And of course, be sure to read the upcoming DiscoveringOhio blog post for in-depth coverage of the Haunted Prison Experience at the Ohio State Reformatory.
