Cruising for Comfort Food in Hocking Hills

There will be no crystal blue waters (but perhaps a frozen waterfall!); no balmy sea breeze (but certainly fresh Ohio air); and probably not much sunbathing. But Hocking Hills’ inaugural Comfort Food Cruise does have at least one thing in common with a cruise of the more mainstream variety — good food, and lots of it.

The Comfort Food Cruise invites tourists to stop at 10 different eateries in the Hocking Hills region to sample some of the best home-cooked delicacies the area has to offer (as chosen by restaurants’ faithful Facebook and Twitter fans).

And while cruise ships may have exercise rooms or make a stop for patrons to enjoy a swim to burn excess calories, the Comfort Food Cruise offers something a little more adventurous: numerous hikes through the region known for its scenery and beauty at any time of year, with highlights such as Old Man’s Cave, Ash Cave, Cedar Falls or Conkle’s Hollow.

The Comfort Food Cruise launched Jan. 25-26 and will continue on Feb. 1 and 2 as well as Feb. 8 and 9.  Attendees can purchase a ticket for $15 that will cover all of the food; $5 of every ticket sold is donated to local food pantries.
