About Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential Library & Museums

Visit the Hayes Presidential Library & Museums at Spiegel Grove, the 25-acre wooded estate of 19th U.S. President Rutherford B. Hayes. Tour the President Rutherford and First Lady Lucy Hayes' Victorian mansion, visit the museum, explore America's first presidential library, stop at the president's tomb, walk the mile of paved trails and see the original White House gates at each entrance. Special activities, such as themed tours of the Hayes Home; hands-on artifact activities; grounds tours; and gallery talks, are offered on certain days.Several special exhibits are either on display or coming up:"Women of Spiegel Grove" – open through March 29, 2020 In honor of the centennial of women's suffrage, this exhibit showcases the lives of the many women who played important roles at Spiegel Grove and tells the national story of women in America, from the suffrage movement to the pursuit for social and workplace equality to the #MeToo movement."Myths & Urban Legends" – Feb. 28 – Oct 31, 2020This exhibit will profile legendary creatures and spooky tales from across Ohio and look at the role of folklore in our culture. "The Press & The Presidency" May 1, 2020 – Feb. 28, 2021It is not just a modern occurrence that the press has played a role in American politics. Since George Washington, presidents have had to respond to negative press and use some media to their advantage. This exhibit will investigate how the press and presidency have coexisted.
