About Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential Library & Museums

Visit the Hayes Presidential Library & Museums at Spiegel Grove, the 25-acre wooded estate of 19th U.S. President Rutherford B. Hayes. Tour the President Rutherford and First Lady Lucy Hayes' Victorian mansion, visit the renovated museum, explore America's first presidential library, stop at the president's and first lady's tomb, walk the mile of paved trails and see the original White House gates at each entrance. Special activities, such as themed tours of the Hayes Home; hands-on artifact activities; grounds tours; and gallery talks, are offered on certain days.Several special exhibits are either on display or coming up:Special exhibit “A Family of Service: The Hayeses in World War I" on display July 2018 – May 27, 2019. "Temperance" – March 1, 2019 – Oct. 6, 2019. Before Prohibition, there was temperance. This exhibit will present the causes for temperance, the role of its proponents in American society and how the Hayeses were shaped by and helped shape the movement."Women of Spiegel Grove" – July 12, 2019 – March 29, 2020 In honor of the centennial of women's suffrage, the Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential Library & Museums will be presenting an exhibit that showcases the lives of the many women who played important roles at Spiegel Grove and tells the national story of women in America, from the suffrage movement to the pursuit for social and workplace equality to the #MeToo movement.
