June Events in Ohio

What a better way to explore Ohio than by visiting some of the exciting festivals throughout the state. June offers a full complement of fun festivals to add to your list.

Nelsonville Music Festival

Nelsonville Music Festival -Ending June 3, this festival features artists from all genres and is family-friendly. With multiple stages, the festival includes a beer garden, kids activities, food, artisan vendors and on-site camping. The venue at Robbins Crossing, right near the Hockhocking Adena Bikeway ,showcases not only a main stage, but also a Porch Stage, a No-Fi cabin for artists performing with no electricity and a Boxcar Stage as the name suggests using an old train car. Artists this year include: Ani Difranco, George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic, A Hawk and a Hacksaw, and Boxcar Square Dance and many others.

Coshocton Hot Air Balloon Festival

Coshocton Hot Air Balloon Festival – Look up in the sky and maybe take a flight up into the sky at this extravaganza that runs June7-9. Make advance reservations for a balloon ride or do a $20 tethered balloon ride to get a feel of what it is like to glide across the sky. Vendors, musical entertainment, carnival rides, food, and an antique flea market and a Corvette Cruise-in are all part of this event featuring 20 hot air balloons. Don’t miss the Balloon Night Glow and the fireworks.

Parade in the Circle

Parade in the Circle – Head to the Cleveland Museum of Art for a spectacular parade that displays bright costumes, giant puppets, stilt dancers masks and floats. Activities, entertainment and food are all part of the activities on June 9 from 10:00am -4:00pm. Cadenza, a Flourish of Individual Creativity is suitable for all ages.

Duck Tape Festival

Duck Tape Festival – Who hasn’t found a use for duct tape? See interesting uses at this annual festival in Avon, Ohio, the home of ShurTech Brands. Like most festivals, there is a combination of food, music, vendors and crafts. In this case, Duck Tape is used to fashion clothes, crafts and even parade floats. This fun festival takes place on June 14-16.

Banana Split Festival

Banana Split Festival – I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream! Head to Wilmington for the annual festival celebrating all things banana split in the alleged birthplace of this delightful dessert. Running June 8-9, the festival offers food, vendors, music, crafts and a car cruise-in. Popular attractions are the make-your-own banana split booth and a banana split eating contest. Make room for the additional calories by running in the Lickety-Split 5k on June 9.
