It’s almost Memorial Day – the unofficial start of summer! It’s an especially exciting time for the tourism industry in Ohio not only because it’s the beginning of the busy summer travel season, but the industry is coming off the heels of another record-setting year! Earlier this month, the 2016 Ohio Tourism Economic Impact results from Tourism Economics were released, revealing an increased number of tourism visits, tourism-supported jobs, and visitor spending. We’ve seen a lot of coverage about your 2016 successes announced at your annual meetings and we congratulate you on your contribution to the industry’s positive economic momentum in our state!

As part of National Travel and Tourism Week, TourismOhio hosted Ohio. Find It Here. Ohio Tourism Day 2017 on May 10 at the Statehouse and, thanks to the industry, it was a big success! Governor Kasich joined us and delivered remarks congratulating the industry on a great year. The event featured interactive booths representing 55 attractions and destinations from across the state where hundreds of attendees obtained information to help them plan their Ohio getaways while sampling delicious local treats, meeting costumed characters, and seeing performances by Ohio artists.

We were thrilled and grateful to have such an abundance of industry partners present as exhibitors helping to showcase the diverse and distinctive attractions that our state has to offer. Thank you to all who participated and be sure to stay tuned for details about Ohio Tourism Day 2018.

Hopefully you’ve had the opportunity to see the Ohio. Find It Here. commercial on TV recently! The first flight concluded April 16 and featured the return of the commercial that TourismOhio debuted last Spring. In preparation for Memorial Day travel, television advertising resumed May 15 and will continue through May 28. You’ll see Ohio. Find It Here. TV advertising several times throughout the summer and fall – with flights preceding holiday weekends when consumers are especially inclined to travel. The late summer/early fall flight will feature a new spot with the same tone and feel as the current spot, but with vivid fall imagery. TourismOhio plans to be on air a total of 12 weeks in 2017. Look for print, digital, and paid social that will complement the TV ads and keep us “in the conversation” all year long as people are making plans to travel.
