Resilience. Ohio. Find It Here.

The Ohio tourism industry’s resilience and growth.

Resilience. Ohio. Find It Here.

2022 officially starts my fifth year as Ohio's Tourism Director. I am proud of the Ohio tourism industry's resilience and growth during my time here. I am grateful for the hundreds of partnerships with Ohio's visitor bureaus, retailers, restaurants, lodging properties and attractions. Most of all, even during these difficult times, my daughters and I continue to find joy, happiness, and excitement when we visit the great destinations and incredible attractions across Ohio!

I am also proud of the work we have done at TourismOhio in the past four years.  We have grown our regional Ohio. Find It Here. paid marketing campaign to reach all Ohioans and major markets in every bordering state. We have built one of the strongest social media audiences in the Midwest with over 115,000 Instagram followers and 280,000 Facebook followers. We are telling the positive story of Ohio by creating more videos and video views than ever before. We continue to seek out partnerships with our over 100 co-op advertising program partners, and the more than two thousand Ohio tourism businesses that are listed on the free event and destination database on Ohio.org

Partnerships magnify our impact and some of our best partnerships have come from promoting the major events held in Ohio each year. It has been exciting to see our state, cities, counties, and tourism industry work together to host some of the biggest events in the world including the NFL Draft, Solheim Cup, and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Inductions. We are excited to see this continue with the 2022 NBA All-Star Game in Cleveland on February 20 and the NCAA March Madness "First Four" in Dayton on March 15 and 16.

The continued perseverance of Ohio's tourism industry has set our state up for success in what I hope will be a much better year. I look forward to working with all of you in 2022 to continue to encourage more visits, more visitor spending, and to show the world Ohio is a great place to visit and to live. Your Future. Ohio. Find It Here.

Sincerely,

Matt MacLaren
