International Marketing

As a member of the Great Lakes USA (GLUSA), Ohio pools its resources with other Midwestern states to offer regional tourism packages to international travelers. The GLUSA’s mission is to encourage and stimulate international travel to member states through cooperative, cost-effective marketing strategies. Member states include: Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio and Wisconsin.

A tourism initiative of the Council of Great Lakes Governors, member states work together as a region to promote tourism abroad to Germany and the United Kingdom. Funding is provided by annual, equal contributions from each member state, as well as private-sector promotion partners.

GLUSA promotes the region primarily through public relations, promotions, trade shows and sales missions. Ohio tourism industry members can participate in a variety of co-operative ways including brochure distribution and/or attendance at trade shows and sales missions. In addition, travel journalists from the UK and Germany will periodically visit Ohio. Destinations have the opportunity to partner with TourismOhio in hosting both group and solo journalists.
