COLUMBUS, Ohio (October 12, 2020) – Ohio. Find It Here., the state's tourism campaign, is challenging people to think beyond their favorite restaurants and explore new places around Ohio to satisfy their taste buds. The Foodie Road Trip, which is part of the Fall in Ohio campaign, offers 14 stops from Cincinnati to Cleveland, including recommendations in Appalachia and Amish Country that allow foodies to get their fix by safely dining in or carrying out
"Whatever your tastes, restaurants and specialty food stores throughout Ohio have something for everyone," said Lydia Mihalik, Director of Ohio Development Services Agency. "While the experience might be slightly different as businesses take steps to keep their customers safe and healthy, you'll savor the memories you make sampling the many delicious treats available around our state."
The Foodie route offers a wide array of establishments, such as markets, delis, coffeehouses and biergartens, as well as a variety of ethnic tastes, including Central American, Asian, Mexican and Canadian-inspired options. Each location includes suggested places to visit and stay.
"There are tons of exciting food venues in Ohio, but many of us just have to learn where to find them," said Mike Bowling, owner of Boomtown Biscuits and Whiskey. "We are excited to be a part of the Foodie Road Trip and can’t wait to meet Ohioans who might explore some new places serving up exceptional food across our state."
As businesses continue to operate, protecting customers and staff remains a top priority. Bake Me Happy, a 100% gluten-free bakery in Columbus, says strict safety protocols have been baked in from the very beginning.
"Before the pandemic, our goal was to make it easier for other gluten-free folks to enjoy delicious foods, so we carefully ensure there is no cross contamination with potential allergens," said Wendy Miller Pugh, co-owner of Bake Me Happy. "That attention to detail and safety continues now as we operate through COVID-19, so come on out and get some treats."
