We’re all guilty of going somewhere for the ‘gram. In an effort to get the perfect photo, we motivate ourselves to travel to new places and make memories with ones that matter the most.
This season we’re here to inspire your next ‘gram so get out there, strike a pose and make memories worth sharing!
Ohio’s cave and caverns can surprise the average traveler. No one really expects it of us, but we not only have ancient stalagmite and stalactite style caves like the Ohio Caverns but hike-worthy marvels like Ash Cave or Perry’s cave, and Ohio Natural Landmark. Make sure to get a wide shot here — the best way to capture the immensity of a cave is to position yourself or a friend in the lower third of your shot!
Into the Woods
From the sky-high oaks of Toledo Woods Metro Parks to the breathtaking overlooks of Cuyahoga Valley National Park, Ohio has a wealth of pristine woods perfect for your next photo opt. Try a vertical shot here, perfect for mobile and tall enough to get the very tops of most trees. Alternatively, whip out a drone if you have one and spy on the snow-covered pines that encircle many of Ohio’s cities.
No trip to Ohio is complete with a stop at one of Ohio’s 12 Castles. Yep, you read that right! Ohio’s history is rich with European immigrants and travelers that wished to bring a little piece of them to their new home. While some castles serve as public parks or buildings, like Piatt’s Castles, others like Landoll’s Mohican Castle offer luxury stays that can make anyone feel like royalty!
Fancy a trip to a Winter beach? Look no further, fam. When temperatures hit freezing, Lake Erie has been known to push off onto the shore, creating magnificent ice shoves. Opaque and vibrantly white in the sun, these icy “cliffs” create the perfect backdrop to your next post! On warmer days, Lake Erie’s surface cracks and creates a mural effect that’s best seen with a drone. Wherever you are on the shore, don’t skip Ohio’s beaches this winter!
If you’re more into the urban scene, find a rooftop with a good view — along with our diverse metropolitan areas, Ohio has three distinctive major cities for the night time adventurer. Hilly Cincinnati honors its Queen City namesake with a literal crown-topped skyscraper. Columbus’ old-world charm is reminiscent of the art-deco era and Cleveland’s urban-industrial feel offers the only major waterfront skyline in the state!
