Ohio’s Best Fall Brews

It’s fall in Ohio and that can only mean one thing—it’s football time. No matter which team has your aliegence – I think we can all agree that one thing goes hand-in-hand with America’s favorite sport: beer. It brings Ohioans together from tailgaters, families and coworkers. There are so many delicious options brewed right here in Ohio. With more than 40 breweries around the Buckeye State, there is a special hoppy pint for each and every one of us. Here are some great options:

Willoughby Brewing Company—Willoughby, Ohio

Try this: Peanut Butter Cup Porter
Opened in 1998, this award winning brewery features eight craft beers on tap. Whether you want to relax with your friends or grab a drink with a date, Willoughby Brewing Company is a great place for brews, music and fun.

Seventh Son Brewing Company—Columbus, Ohio

Try this: Seventh Son American Strong Ale
This brewery, inside a repurposed auto shop, is quickly becoming a staple in the Columbus craft beer scene. Whether you’re looking for a strong hoppy ale or something more experimental, Seventh Son Brewing Company has something for your weekend bar hop.

MadTree Brewing Company—Cincinnati, Ohio

Try this: Psycopathy

Opened in 2013, this new establishment is Ohio’s first craft brewery to put beer in cans. This family friendly brewery boasts its brewery right in the taproom, so you can watch beer being made right behind you. MadTree doesn’t serve food but there are usually food trucks outside to fill your stomach before a beer flight.

Jackie O’s Pub and Brewery—Athens, Ohio

Try this: Sweet Chocolate Love

There is a special spot in my heart for Jackie O’s. Having spent my undergrad years in Athens, Jackie O’s was a frequent stop for me and my friends. They recently built a new 20-barrel facility capable of brewing 4,000 to 5,000 barrels in 2013. Stop into Jackie O’s for a beer and stay for a show.

Maumee Bay Brewing Company—Toledo, Ohio

Try this: Fire-Roasted White Pumpkin Ale

This brewery has seven beers on tap throughout the year including the popular Buckeye Beer. With its emphasis on quality versus quantity this brewery, guests can enjoy fine craft beer while dining at one of the many restaurant at the historic Oliver House.
