Ring in the New Year in Ohio

Celebrate the new year with these Ohio events.

New Year's Eve Walleye Drop in Port Clinton

Looking for something more than the traditional countdown to celebrate the start of the new decade? Step away from the television and bring your party to one of Ohio’s unique and unforgettable New Year’s Eve bashes.

Fountain Square’s New Year’s Eve Bash in Cincinnati

This amazing (and free) event takes place in the heart of Cincinnati’s downtown, right at Fountain Square. Dance to the latest hits from Mix 94.9 Cincinnati, take a lap around the ice skating rink, or grab a bite to eat at one of the many eateries just steps away. A colorful fireworks show caps off the celebration at midnight.

Pop-n-Drop in Marion

As one of the nation’s largest popcorn growing hubs, Marion is proud of its snack food reputation – just part of the reason the town drops a giant popcorn ball from the sky each New Year’s Eve. Attendees will love the free popcorn and hot chocolate through midnight, not to mention the family-friendly entertainment and impressive fireworks display to kick off 2020.

New Year’s Eve Walleye Drop in Port Clinton

Forget watching the glittering ball drop in New York City and instead witness a 20-foot-long, 600-pound fiberglass fish drop from the sky at the stroke of midnight. Held along Ohio’s Lake Erie shoreline in Port Clinton, known as the “Walleye Capital of the World,” this truly one-of-a-kind celebration boasts live entertainment, family-friendly activities, and all things walleye – from walleye chowder to walleye popcorn to walleye wine.

Hocking Valley Scenic Railway’s New Year’s Eve Train & Fireworks in Nelsonville

What’s better than a scenic train ride to ring in the New Year? Passengers on Hocking Valley Scenic Railway’s New Year’s Eve Train have two options to choose from: a “Pizza & Pop” train, perfect for those celebrating with little ones; or the “Wine & Cheese” train, for those ages 21 and over. The train leaves from the Nelsonville Depot to East Logan and back, just in time for a fireworks display at midnight.

Music and dancing will continue after the concert for the Roaring Twenties party featuring costumes, photo opportunities, cash bars and a mesmerizing balloon drop at midnight.
