Welcome to Walleye Drop New Year's Eve in Port Clinton
Wylie, the Walleye, was born in 1997 and made of simply paper mache.
Now, 25 years later, thousands brave the cold and gather to await Wylie to descend as a new year begins. Port Clinton is the "Walleye Capital of the World," so what else would we do on New Year's Eve but drop our Brand New LED lit, 20-foot, 600-pound walleye, named Wylie Jr., from the sky at the stroke of Midnight with a spectacular FIREWORKS show to follow!
Although Port Clinton is a small town on the shores of Lake Erie, its spirit is huge - especially on New Year's Eve! We are SOOOOO BIG, we have been simulcast on split screen with the ball in New York City. Walleye Madness at Midnight is a free event. There’s a kids party 4p-6pwith a Minnow Drop at 6p, games with the Mayor and the “touch a truck” event, where kids can see public safety vehicles.
Take a chance , "Wall-eyes" Giant Dice Game is for all ages and every roll is a winner.
On the day of the event, you can purchase merchandise, GRAND PRIZE raffle tickets, 50/50 tickets and tickets to ROLL the Dice. The Annual "Bar Swim" will feature heated charter buses, provided by Baron's Busses, that will pick you up or take you to your favorite venues around Catawba and Marblehead. Come celebrate in the warmth of our community and enjoy Port Clinton at its finish hour for New Year’s Eve!
