48 Hours in Cleveland

Only have two days to spend in Cleveland? That's definitely not enough time to experience all that The Land has to offer. Despite that, we've put together a 48-hour trip that'll give you a little taste of what we're all about.

Day One

Breakfast: Beer + Donuts = Perfect. Get yourself to Brewnuts in Gordon Square Arts District where they make this oh-so-perfect pairing possible by making decadent donuts from a variety of tasty beers.

Morning: Head to the ultimate homage to rock music - The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. This multi-level, interactive museum takes you through the history and evolution of rock music.

Lunch: The West Bank of the Flats (which flanks the Cuyahoga River) is home to Merwin's Wharf, an American-style restaurant with stunning waterfront views and great food.

Afternoon: Take an afternoon pub crawl in Ohio City along West 25th Street and sample a few Cleveland signature beers. Start at Market Garden Brewery for any of their 14 beers on tap and small plates. Then, over to Great Lakes Brewing Co., with its famed Edmund Fitzgerald Porter.

Dinner: East 4th Street is one alley you need to see. Some of Cleveland's most celebrated restaurants and entertainment hubs pepper this pedestrian-only street, including Chef Michael Symon's barbeque joint Mabel's BBQ, the "casual upscale" Pickwick & Frolic and Roman-inspired pizza at Citizen Pie

Evening: Depending on what season you're in town, you can cheer on one (or more) of our three major league sports teams or our minor league hockey team. And, bonus, all of these teams — the Cleveland Guardians (MLB), Cavaliers (NBA), Browns (NFL) and Monsters (AHL) — are located in Downtown Cleveland.

Late Night: If a late night is on your agenda, then the best spot is the Flats East Bank, a massively revived area of Downtown that's built-up with brand new cocktail bars, craft breweries, unique eateries and a swath of outdoor patios energized with thumping music.

Day Two

Breakfast: Start the day off right at Tommy's in Coventry. This place has been around for more than four decades and is known for serving up healthier items for vegetarians, vegans and people with food allergies. Make sure to try one of their famous milkshakes!

Morning: Nearby University Circle is a collection of world-renowned arts and cultural institutions — all grouped together in an easily walkable square mile. Tour the Cleveland Museum of Art's high-tech Gallery One — it's free, and an absolute must-see. Or, go to the Cleveland History Center where you can scope the world's first DeLorean and Lebron James' championship-winning, size-16 shoes.

Lunch: Next, head up Mayfield Road and into Little Italy. Have lunch at one of the local favorites like Mama Santa's for Sicilian pizza, Mia Bella for Mediterranean cuisine or Guarino's for the homemade pasta with red sauce.

Afternoon: If the weather's looking good, go to Lake Erie and the Cuyahoga River. The Edgewater Beach House rents stand-up paddleboards and umbrellas. BrewBoat CLE takes peddling patrons on a beery cruise along the Cuyahoga River. The Nautica Queen does brunch and lunch cruises.

Dinner: Check out Tremont, where there's a wealth of taste opportunities. There's GINKO which serves incredible sushi. Grab a seat at the bar to watch the process. Edison's Pub has some of the best pizza ever. And, there's Prosperity Social Club, a cool hangout with an extensive beer list.

Evening: There's no better place to check out a concert than in the very town where the term "rock 'n' roll" was coined. Check out up-and-coming bands at cool, indie venues like the Agora, Beachland Ballroom, Music Box Supper Club and Grog Shop.
