The Maltz Museum of Jewish Heritage highlights the Jewish cultural experience throughout Cleveland, as well both nationally and internationally.

The museum features core exhibits, like the The Temple-Tifereth Israel Gallery - which displays religious art and artifacts. Other core exhibits spotlight the effects of the Great Depression, the rise of anti-semistism, and the horrors of the Holocaust.

And the museum recently added the The Interactive Biography of Stanley Bernath exhibit into its permanent collection. This exhibit uses new filmmaking techniques to capture oral history, like that of Holocaust Survivor Stanley Bernath (who shared his story for over forty years with students and adults across Northeast Ohio).

There are also displays throughout the museum celebrating historical Jewish figures in sports and pop-culture. For instance, many people don't know that comic book icon Superman was dreamed up right here in Ohio by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster.

The children of Jewish immigrants, they met at Cleveland's Glenville High School. And on April 18, 1938, Action Comics' first issue came out sporting the iconic cover art of Superman lifting a car over his head.

In addition to the permanent collections, there are also rotating exhibits as well as a calendar of programming events throughout the year for visitors of the museum to check out.

The Maltz Museum opened nearly two decades ago (in 2005) with the mission of fostering understanding and education of Jewish heritage through American experiences. And through their interactive programming, exhibits, oral histories, as well as religious and cultural artifacts, the museum continues to explore and showcase the vibrancy of the Jewish community.
