Summer is in full bloom and what better way to enjoy the season's vibrant colors than by picking a bouquet of fresh flowers! While flowers are a lovely way to brighten your home, they also have scientific benefits as mood-boosters and stress-reducers. Find some joy this summer and put a smile on your face with the freshest blooms of the season by visiting a u-pick flower farm.

Located in Bucyrus, The Ohio Flower Girls is a U-pick flower patch and cut flower farm owned by two sisters, whose passion for flowers began at an early age. Now, Haley and Hannah grow and arrange dozens of varieties of flowers and sell seasonal bouquets throughout Northwest Ohio.

They invite visitors to experience the benefits of the summer season through flower arranging workshops and picking their own flowers at the U-pick patch. The U-pick patch is open daily throughout the summer and a select few nights are dedicated to fun themed U-pick evenings.

You'll find a lovely selection of seasonal flowers in the patch – Ageratum, Cosmos, Feverfew, Forget-Me-Nots, Marigolds, and Zinnias are just a few of the flower varieties you can choose from. Creating your own bouquet is easy and fun for flower enthusiasts of all ages!

Visit The Pickwick Place to purchase a jar for $20. Head out to the patch, add a little water to your jar and start clipping the flowers you love! Then fill your jar with as many flowers that'll fit. Take your jar of flowers to the picnic table to arrange the blooms and voila, you've created a beautiful, hand-picked, locally grown flower bouquet!

Tips for visiting The Ohio Flower Girls U-pick flower patch:

  • Flower growing season is dependent on the weather, be sure to check with the patch for availability prior to visiting.
  • Fresh blooms attract bees, other pollinators, and insects, be prepared to share the colorful patch with these little creatures.
  • Wear proper shoes to explore the patch, the patch can be uneven and muddy.
  • Cutting shears are available to borrow.
  • Take your time to enjoy the blooming beauties!

The colorful U-pick flower patch is located on the grounds of The Pickwick Place. Once a race-horse farm, the three historic brick barns of The Pickwick Place are now home to a unique event venue, shopping destination, and restaurant.

A visit to The Ohio Flower Girls U-pick patch and The Pickwick Place makes for a fun day trip! My husband and I had a great morning date starting with breakfast at The Café, shopping for fresh local produce and baked goods at The Market, perusing the vendors at The Stalls, and picking our own fresh flower bouquet. It was the perfect morning to enjoy Ohio's summer weather, support local businesses, and to spend time together admiring the gorgeous blooms.
