Celebrate Harvest at Ohio's Wineries

Enjoying a glass of wine at your favorite Ohio winery is even more special when autumn rolls around. Somehow, the wine tastes just a little better when accompanied by a crisp breeze and a beautiful backdrop of fall foliage. If you’re a fan of colorful fall landscapes and fall-themed fun, there are several wineries throughout the state that can warm you up and be the perfect setting for an evening with friends. Below are just a few examples of Ohio wineries worth a visit this season.

NOTE: Please check directly with places before your visit to stay up to date on all safety precautions and learn more about the guidelines surrounding COVID-19

Maize Valley Winery in Hartville

It’s not often that you find a winery that caters to the entire family – children included. Maize Valley does just that, featuring a special fall harvest from September 26 to October 31 (tickets are required for this year). While there, enjoy wagon rides to the pumpkin patch, an animal train ride, pumpkin cannon demonstrations, and plenty more attractions!

I'm personally fond of the massive 8-acre corn maze, which assuredly made me feel like a kid again! To feel adult again, grab one of the handcrafted beers or wines (like their Apple Pie wine) and reserve a campfire site!

Gervasi Vineyard in Canton

Just minutes south of Maize Valley is Gervasi Vineyard, whose beautiful pond and walkways are a sight to see in any season, but especially in fall. This winery has gained lots of attention as one of the greatest destination wineries in the state, and when you visit you'll see why! Come be blown away by the scenery on any day.

Stop over for their "Boos ad Booze" Halloween Costume Party on October 31. You'll enjoy some frightfully good drinks and horror d'oeuvres. Or try one of the two new Barrel-Aged Bourbons

Matus Winery in Wakeman

If you’re seeking out a winery to enjoy this fall while in the Halloween spirit, look no further than Matus Winery in Huron County. Their Halloween Bash is a popular event year after year. This year's bash on October 31 will feature music from The Adjustments.

But you don’t have to wait until Halloween to enjoy Matus Winery, which sits on a gorgeous stretch of 80-year-old farmland. Come anytime to sit outside on the lantern-lit veranda next to the fire pit!

The Winery at Wolf Creek in Norton

Once you visit The Winery At Wolf Creek in Summit County, you won't forget it. That’s because of one very special feature: a backyard full of pygmy goats to greet you and your guests! It’s so fun to watch the goats as you sip on your vino. For more animal fun, every Tuesday (till October 27), you can bring you dog for "Yappy Hours on the Patio."

For those wanting a fright, the winery is hosting two Halloween movie nights. Screening classics "Pet Sematary" and "Frankenstein" on October 16 and 23. While both events are currently sold you, you can still join the waitlist.

D&D Smith Winery in Norwalk

Located near Matus Winery is D&D Smith Winery in Norwalk. This Huron County winery stands out in the fall for its harvest-inspired wine flavors that are unlike anything you've had before. Try a sampling or take home a bottle of their Apple-Cinn, Cranberry or Pumpkin Spice wine (made from 100% pumpkin with no artificial flavors).

On October 31, join the fun with a Halloween Costume Party. There'll be pizza, a bottle of wine - plus special apple and pumpkin (adult) themed drinks all day!
