It's the most wonderful time of the year, so why not visit a charming Ohio town to partake in some holiday cheer?! Throughout the state, there's plenty of Hallmark worthy towns that embrace the holiday spirit and transform into winter wonderlands!
Springfield Community Christmas Tree
With festive events all season long, Springfield is spreading lots of holiday cheer. Downtown Springfield's Holiday in the City is a five-week event featuring holiday festivities, ice skating under the stars, live holiday music, horse and carriage rides, holiday light displays, and more!
Most of the holiday lights and festivities are centered around the Downtown Springfield Esplanade which is located on South Fountain Avenue within the blocks of Columbia Street and High Street. I would suggest finding a parking spot (plenty of on street parking is available or park in the 99 Parking Garage), bundle up and enjoy a short walk to discover festive décor, local shops and restaurants, and the outdoor ice rink.
Winans Peppermint Mocha at Winans Chocolates + Coffee
Start your visit by perusing the local shops on North Fountain Avenue, be sure to stop into Champion City Guide & Supply to purchase unique locally made and Ohio-themed gifts. Plus, it serves as the official visitors center for Springfield, so if you have any questions about your visit, this is a great place to start! After shopping, grab a warm holiday drink from Winans – a Peppermint Mocha, Nutcracker Latte, or a Sugar Cookie Latte will spark some joy into your tastebuds.
With warm drink in hand, stroll along Fountain Avenue towards the Clark County Heritage Center to admire the festive holiday décor, dazzling light displays, and the grand Springfield Community Christmas Tree. After admiring the lights, visit the outdoor ice rink to skate a few laps under the stars.
You'll work up an appetite after participating in the merry festivities, so grab a bite to eat at one of the local restaurants along Fountain Avenue or stop into the COhatch Market for a variety of eateries and to sip on a festive holiday cocktail at The Market Bar.
If you're looking for additional fun holiday celebrations, there's plenty of events during Holiday in the City including Santa visits, horse and carriage rides, holiday markets, and more. Check out the calendar of events for more details about the fun you can have this holiday season in Downtown Springfield.
