Cedar Point in Sandusky

Continuing their 150th anniversary celebration, Cedar Point amusement park in Sandusky draws thrill-seekers from all over. For its sesquicentennial, the park will be introducing a new nighttime spectacular, a river adventure ride for the entire family and many nods to the park's history.

Speed junkies will enjoy the park's Steel Vengeance, the world's first hyper-hybrid roller coaster. Standing at a height of 205 feet, this steel-on-wood hybrid coaster starts with a stomach-in-your-throat 90-degree drop, tops out at 75 miles per hour and features nearly 30 seconds of airtime — the most of any roller coaster on Earth.

Of course, the fun doesn't stop there. This iconic theme park also features 71 amazing rides of all different speeds, including 18 world-class roller coasters like the record-breaking Valravn dive coaster, the high-flying Gatekeeper, and the speedy Top Thrill Dragster.

Once known as Soak City, the park also provides a newly-revitalized water park now called Cedar Point Shores Waterpark. This 17-acre park has lots to like including the four-rider Storm Surge slide, the five-story Portside Plunge and the six-story aqua drops known as Point Plummet.

Kings Island in Mason

Located in Mason, Kings Island features a dozen roller coasters appealing to every level of adrenaline seekers. A recent addition is Orion, Kings Island's tallest, fastest and longest steel coaster. Orion is only one of seven giga coasters in the world, a class of roller coasters having a height or drop of 300-399 feet.

If you want something a little more tame, ride one of the trains that roll side-by-side on The Racer, or push past 50 miles per hour on Mystic Timbers, the 109-foot-tall wooden roller coaster that races through forest terrain and features 16 thrilling airtime moments. In for a lot of twists and turns? Ride the Invertigo, the only face-to-face inverted coaster in the Midwest. Sit across from your friends and watch them scream in delight as you speed through three inversions heading forward, then reverse and do it backward!

And if you prefer wet and wild fun, Kings Island's Soak City water park features over 50 water activities including thrilling water slides like the free-falling Tropical Plunge.

Zoombezi Bay is a 22-acre water park in Powell with 17 water slides ranging from mild to wild. It's a great place to cool off while also getting your fix of thrilling high-speed rides. Be sure to check out the new Croctail Creek & Sandbar, an adults-only experience with a swim-up bar, heated lounge pool and lazy river.

One of the park's premier attractions is the Python Plunge. Known as Central Ohio's only "water coaster." This ride actually pulls you uphill for about 10 seconds, accelerating you at high speeds before plunging you back down into a 70-foot-long landing pool. You'll also find great thrills in rides like the Cyclone, which shoots you into a cone-shaped funnel, and of course lots of animal-themed slides like the Slippery Seal Body Slides, Dolphin Dash and Big Boa Falls.
