Each year on the third Monday of January, Martin Luther King, Jr. and his civil rights movement are commemorated. Several Ohio venues take part in this celebration. Many events offer classes and a look at history, while others will focus on community – and all are perfect for the kids who are likely out of school for the holiday. Check out a few Ohio places celebrating MLK, Jr. Day!

The Cleveland Orchestra will perform its 42nd concert in celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on June 4th at 7PM. The concerts originally scheduled for Jan. 16-17 have been postponed. More information on the June 4th concert (which will honor Juneteenth) and tickets will be posted in the upcoming months.

In place of the scheduled concerts, you can listen to a FREE stream of 2018 MLK Jr. celebration from Jan 17 - Feb 28 on  the Adella app or Adella.live - The Cleveland Orchestra's video streaming service.

Honoring the role that Martin Luther King, Jr. played in history, the Ohio History Center is celebrating the holiday with themed programming. In partnership with the King Arts Complex, there will be a Martin Luther King Jr. Day Open House from 12-2PM. The event will cover the impact of MLK, as well as showcase music, theatre and dance.

There will be other events throughout the day, such as Seeds of Caring from 12-4PM (where kids can contribute to various community service stations), and a special film screening of The Green Book: Guide to Freedom at 10:30AM & 3:00PM.
