Valley Vineyards
By Heather Rader

Located in Southwestern Ohio in Warren County, Valley Vineyards is Ohio’s second largest wine vineyard. With the vineyard’s location in the Ohio River Valley Appellation, the glaciated soil of the region makes for the perfect grape growing conditions. Since opening in 1970, three generations of the Schuchter family have been tending the 100 acres of vines and producing award-winning Ohio wines.

Valley Vineyards produces more than twenty wine varieties, from red to white, dry to sweet and dessert wine to honey meads. Start with a wine tasting to sample a variety of their wines to find your favorite. Valley Vineyards offers a dry wine sampler, sweet wine sampler or individual samples, I’m sure there will be a Valley Vineyards wine to satisfy your palate!

Not a wine drinker, but love craft beer? Valley Vineyards’ on-site brewery, Cellar Dweller, produces ten types of craft beers. Featuring IPA’s, Pale Ales, a Porter and a Stout, try the beer tasting tray to sample all ten craft beers! Craft beer lovers will surely find a cold brew to quench their thirst!

Weekends are the perfect time to visit Valley Vineyards as Friday and Saturday nights (year-round and Sunday nights from July-October) are known for their popular weekend cookouts (reservations are requested). Visitors can grill their own steak or salmon on the indoor or outdoor grill accompanied with salad, vegetables, bread, dessert buffet and a bottle of wine for $70 per couple. It makes for a lovely romantic date night at a great Ohio winery!

Although Valley Vineyards makes delicious Ohio wines, the real treat when visiting this winery is the welcoming atmosphere. Visitors are often greeted by a member of the Schuchter family, inviting you to unwind and enjoy their estate-grown Ohio wines (and/or craft beers). Valley Vineyards is the perfect spot to relax on an Ohio summer day and to sip on a glass of local Ohio wine! Cheers!
