It has been a busy month sharing Ohio’s distinctive travel experiences with travelers from across the pond!
Brand USA MegaFam
The Brand USA (federal government international tourism marketing initiative), MegaFam program brought 100 of the UK and Ireland’s top-selling travel agents to the U.S., 15 travel agents enjoyed a taste of Ohio in Columbus and Cincinnati from May 12-13. The agents enjoyed culture, shopping, craft breweries and distilleries in Columbus’ German Village, the Short North, and, of course, a stop at the world-renowned Columbus Zoo with overnight at the new Hotel LeVeque. Then it was on to the old-world charm of Cincinnati with an underground tour, Over-the-Rhine, the tunnels of Cincinnati’s brewery heritage, outstanding cuisine and overnight at the exquisite Hilton Cincinnati Netherland Plaza, an art deco masterpiece.
GLUSA Great Lakes Fam
In collaboration with Great Lakes USA (GLUSA, a regional consortium of states that works together to market the Great Lakes region), Ohio and Michigan hosted 5 journalists from some of the largest publications in Germany and the U.K. May 15-22. The journalists kicked off their Ohio tour in Cleveland where they experienced the fun and excitement of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, nightlife, breweries, neighborhoods and distinctive accommodations. The group then headed east to Lake County to experience spring and a Canopy Walk at Holden Arboretum followed by some time taking in the natural beauty of Headlands Beach State Park and the bird migration. Then it was off to Amish Country to learn about Amish and Mennonite culture, plenty of cheese samples and a hearty meal. Last, but not least, the group headed up north for the greatest thrills on earth at Cedar Point and some island time at Put-in-Bay.
A big thank you to all the Ohio tourism partners who shared their time, stories, accommodations, attraction passes, meals and more to make both tours major successes for our guests!
