Picnicking is a unique way to enjoy the outdoors with family and friends in the summer and fall season while maintaining social distance. Check out these five picture-perfect spots in Northeast Ohio for your next foodie outing.

NOTE: Don’t forget to always check each park’s website before you head out to enjoy the day to ensure they’re open and to check all of the park’s rules.

Hidden Valley Park in Madison

For those who enjoy a more secluded experience, Hidden Valley is a small park tucked away and is truly "hidden" from the main road. There are several picnic tables scattered around, as well as a large grass area if you like to set up a blanket and picnic the old fashion way. Plus, there are a few easy trails to enjoy if you’re looking to take a little walk. There’s also access to the Grand River for those who want to make a day of it.

Whiskey Island in Cleveland

At Whiskey Island you’ll enjoy a relaxing area that includes similar views of it’s more popular known sister park, Edgewater. If you don’t feel like packing food, grab takeout from Whiskey Island Still & Eatery. This area has a ton of open grass areas, as well as picnic benches to enjoy whatever style picnic you like.

Bonus: come here in the evening to enjoy a beautiful sunset over Lake Erie.

Sulphur Springs in Bentleyville

Sulphur Springs Picnic Area, which is a part of the South Chagrin Reservation, is an incredibly peaceful place to picnic while listening to the sounds of nature. There are plenty of picnic tables with grills, as well as a large open sided shelter if you want to get the family together. This is another area that also offers a few trails for some scenic hiking.

Kendall Lake in Peninsula

If you want to enjoy a visit to Cuyahoga Valley National Park and a picnic on the same day, Kendall Lake offers a variety of beautiful trails for hikers of all skill levels, and views including the lake itself which is the largest in the national park. There are plenty of benches scattered throughout and there is one grill available for use.

Lakewood Park in Lakewood

The Solstice Steps at Lakewood Park have become a popular spot to watch the sunset. However, if you visit here during the day you can avoid the crowds and enjoy the views of the lake while you picnic. The park also has a shelter, grills and many other benches throughout the park.
