The holidays are on display in Ohio. You may already know the Arcade will be lit in Cleveland and the Scioto Mile in Columbus, but what if we told you there are even more lights, traditions and festivities to see off the beaten path? Christmas Candlelight Walking Tour in Granville
Small town charm + candlelit stroll = the perfect way to welcome the holiday season! Head to Granville for the Christmas Candlelit Walking Tour on December 7 from 1-9PM. Feast your eyes on more than 70 Christmas trees all decorated differently. The kids will love hopping up on Santa’s knee and meeting Mrs. Claus with the stunning backdrop of a firetruck downtown. Hayes Home Holidays in Fremont
Fremont, Ohio is home to the Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential Library and Museums which celebrates the holidays in style! Make the trip up for Hayes Home Holidays and experience the Christmas traditions of the Hayes family with a tour through the historic estate. Sleigh bells ring, are you listening? Feel like a kid again as you ride through the wooded estate of President Rutherford B. Hayes in a horse-drawn sleigh. Plan ahead! Rides are available from Thursday, Dec. 26 through Tuesday, Dec. 31 on a first-come basis. The Hayes Train Special chugs into the season from November 29-January 5 with model train display featuring six trains traveling on tracks that stretch through three rooms. New this year are mythical creature miniatures hidden throughout the display and a scavenger hunt for kids to see who can find them all!
Steubenville Nutcracker Village & Advent Market in Steubenville
Nothing says Christmas like "The Nutcracker." It may surprise you that Steubenville, Ohio is home to an annual display that draws national attention: The Nutcracker Village. The Nutcracker Village & Advent Market is an inventive display of life-sized (some stretching up to 6 feet) figures, all hand-painted in a unique way. Now in its fifth year, Nutcracker Village will feature more than 100 nutcrackers, an outdoor advent market with products from local makers and even a nutcracker-themed parade. Join in the fun November 26th, 2019 through January 4, 2020!
Light Up Middletown in Middletown
Middletown, Ohio takes light displays to the next level during the holiday season with Light Up Middletown at Smith Park. Open every night from Thanksgiving through New Year's. The best part? Admission is by donation - you set the price! As if the lights themselves weren’t already charming enough, you’ll love to meet Light Up Middletown’s volunteer force: The Grandpa Gang. These volunteers are the backbone of a great light display and help with the large task of putting more than a million lights in trees and over a hundred display pieces on the grounds of the park – so sweet they make even the Grinch’s heart burst!
Dickens Victorian Village & Guernsey County Light Show in Cambridge
The Guernsey County Courthouse in Cambridge, Ohio lights up the city with a magical show during the holiday season. Take a trip back in time and enjoy old-world England at Dickens Victorian Village in historic downtown Cambridge. From November through January 1, holiday travelers are invited to stroll amidst over 95 scenes of 186 life-like characters representing classic scenes from the Victorian era.
