Cherry Ridge Retreat combines the privacy and beauty of a woodland paradise with the comforts and amenities of a custom-designed vacation destination.
Situated on 140 forested acres, the retreat is set apart from the many other cabin businesses in the Hocking Hills in that it provides everything you need for your getaway. Want to relax with a good book in a hammock? Interested in hiking miles of trails and exploring the area’s flora and fauna? Maybe you want to whittle away the hours fishing in a serene pond? You can do all of this – and more – without ever leaving the retreat grounds.
Founder Greg Georgia bought the property 25 years ago, and while he’s still involved, his stepson Keith Mondal now runs the business. To create this ideal getaway for couples, groups of friends and families, Georgia spent years researching and exploring the acreage, carving out trails, developing four ponds and situating cabins on unique plots on the property to ensure perfect views with absolute privacy.
"What has always motivated me," Georgia says, "is what would I want if I was staying here? At the top of my list: I want it to be private and secluded. Beyond that, make everything first class. What we have is extraordinarily special. How many cabins in Hocking Hills have water features, gazebos and miles of trails through the woods?!"
Eight cabins are spread throughout the property, ranging from one to four bedrooms. Each is designed for seclusion so no matter where you stay, you’ll feel fully immersed in the natural beauty of the region. Many guests will spend their entire stay at Cherry Ridge. "Not many places have dramatic, private acreage like we have," Georgia says. "Guests often say, 'We’re glad we went to the state forest, but we’re not sure why we left – everything we saw is right here!'"
For the guests who do choose to venture out, the retreat is a short drive from the area’s most iconic features: Cedar Falls, Old Man’s Cave, Conkle's Hollow, Hocking Hills State Park, Wayne National Forest and the many small, historic towns that dot the area.
The facility features four luxury romantic cabins: Ravine’s Edge, The Boat House, Oak Ridge and the newest addition – The Observatory. The stone-and-stucco-sided Ravine’s Edge features large windows with sweeping views of nearby woods and ravines. Oak Ridge lets you look out at the towering red and white oaks; you can also watch movies while relaxing in state-of-the-art massage chairs. The aptly named Boat House is perched next to the two-and-a-half-acre lake, with a private dock, gazebo and luxury sauna on the waterfront and a flat bottomed boat for fishing. The Observatory cabin sits atop a lush hill with stunning views. Relax in its hot tub or heated pool, or take a dip into Hocking Hills’ only in-ground spring-fed cold plunge water feature.
In any of the cabins, couples can snuggle up by the fire during the winter, or gaze at the stars from a deluxe hot tub. Many choose to book the popular in-cabin couples’ massage, wherein two professional therapists pamper with massages that are rejuvenating for body and soul.
Family Home Away From Home
The retreat is also the perfect spot for families looking to escape the ordinary and spend quality time together. Four cabins offer plenty of room for everyone: the Whispering Pines, Water’s Edge and Still Waters cabins, as well as the Lake House lodge. The Lake House offers the premiere family-friendly accommodations at Cherry Ridge, sleeping up to eight and featuring large picture windows, garden terraces and a gazebo on the lake.
