It was looking to be a pretty nice day in Central Ohio on a recent school holiday. The weather forecasters predicted sun and a high temperature in the mid-20s, which provided a great opportunity to get the kids outside to blow off some of the cabin fever that has set in this winter. 
While the kids changed into their Michelin Man outfits, I braved the cold to stand in line and buy our three-hour ride passes. With hats, gloves, mittens and scarves all secured, we jumped in line for the carpet lift that would take us to the top of the 900-foot sledding hill. The Mad River Mountain website aptly describes the Avalanche Tubing Park as: "...Ten 900' long chutes, 2 conveyor lifts, and 550 tubes equal unlimited fun!" Unlimited fun is an understatement: Notice the excitement and smiles pasted on the children’s faces in the video. On this particular holiday the weather and the lack of work/school commitment provided for a capacity crowd. The lines were a bit long, but our gracious hosts at Mad River added additional time to everyone’s ticket to ensure that plenty of “tubing” was achieved by all.
NOTE: Face coverings are required to access the mountain, in all indoor spaces, in any line, in chairlifts and gondolas, and whenever you are unable to maintain physical distance. Reservations are required and pass holders will receive priority access. This season, there is limited on-mountain access to ensure visitor's safety. Book lift tickets early to lock in preferred dates. All transactions will be cashless, including hotels, restaurants, Ski and Ride School and all other points of sale.
