Warm Up this Winter with these Indoor Activities

When my husband and I were married at the end of October 2008, we had neither the time nor the budget for a week-long getaway to a tropical paradise. The weather wasn't ideal, our bank accounts were recovering from wedding planning and the nearest place for sand and surf was several states away. Or was it?

Cue our three-day honeymoon at Kalahari Resort in Sandusky! At Kalahari you can pretend you're at the beach - surfing, tropical temperatures (84 and sunny!) and mermaid lessons included all without the jet lag.

If you're looking for a way to warm up this winter without cranking up your heat, maybe a trip to Kalahari is in your future. Here are a couple other out-of-the-box warm-up suggestions:

Attend a glassblowing demonstration

As long as you are in a decent (but safe) radius of the 800 degrees required to blow glass, you can catch some serious heat waves and even leave with a souvenir. My husband's (mostly) handmade glass ornament from The Works in Newark always earns compliments on our Christmas tree, and our girls love watching the process by which artists forge beautiful decorations in the museums glassblowing studio.

Breathe deeply in a steam spa

Need some "me-time?" Check into the Moroccan Steam Spa in Columbus where you can experience the ultimate relaxation in a steam room with traditional Moroccan spa treatments. For more travel ideas and #WinterInOhio fun, check out #OhioFindItHere at Ohio.org.
